Megachurch Building Boom in Central Florida

Florida ranks 2nd in Nation in Number of Megachurches
The number of megachurches in the United States has doubled during the past five years, with Florida ranking second in the nation in number of megachurches, according to a study done by the Hartford Seminary earlier this year. A megachurch is defined as Protestant congregations with an average weekend attendance of 2,000 people or more.

Nationally recognized church architect Bob Miller, President of R. Miller Architecture, Inc. attests to the building boom in megachurches. Bob mentioned “A few years ago we were designing churches with an average of 500-750 seats, presently we are working on 5 churches that will seat 1,200 – 3,500 people at one time. Many of our church clients also hold multiple services to accommodate their growing memberships.” R. Miller Architecture, Inc. is currently providing architectural/engineering services for 5 churches totaling an estimated $75M worth of construction, throughout Central Florida and Jacksonville.
