Exemplary Service

Orlando Business Journal
The Orlando Chapter of the American Institute of Architects awarded Bob Miller its Nils M. Schweizer Community Service Award. The award recognizes an architect whose leadership in community activities and service has been a direct benefit to the profession or community.

Over the last 16 years, Miller has served on the boards of nine charitable and civic organizations and as board chair of five of them. His causes have included Maitland’s new downtown, orphans in Haiti, indegenous people in Central America, chemically dependent men in Central Florida, education and economic empowerment in the oldest African-American township in the US, a college in Russia, public transportation using alternative energy, and mentoring and supporting aspiring architects.

Miller worked for Nils Schweizer from 1981-1988 at Schweizer inc. “He was a tremendous role model for young architects – it’s an honor to receive this award.” says Miller.

Miller is president of R. Miller Architecture, Inc. in Winter Park and is a member of the Maitland City Council.
